Five things to do when staying with us!

Cornwall is never short of great things to do! Here are five attractions within a easy drive of Penbugle …

Bodmin Jail

Berrycombe Road, Bodmin PL31 2NR

Located in the historic town of the same name, the jail is a former prison situated on the edge of the mysterious Bodmin Moor.

This austere building was constructed in 1779 and closed in 1927, made with 20,000 tons of granite from Bodmin’s Cuckoo Quarry.

Visitors should be prepared for some grisly stories about its inmates as they’re not for the fainthearted; equally, this visitor attraction also has a fascinating social history. The site held the Doomsday Book in the First World War and also provided a safe haven for the Crown Jewels.
